The Company shall also provide assistance to the Municipality of Radnevo once again during the actual process of the cemetery relocation by providing the necessary technical equipment for the exhumation and removal of the mortal remains and memorial plates.
With regard to the additional funeral expenses arising for the residents of Beli Bryag village out of the ban for funerals on the territory of the village’s graveyard, the Company has adopted and already implements another important measure for mitigating the adverse effects. The Company reimburses the additional funeral expenses to the relatives of the deceased to the amount of BGN 200.
In the recent years the Company has been keeping regular communication with the experts responsible for the ritual/ceremonial services in the Municipality of Radnevo. More meetings between “Mini Maritsa-iztok” EAD, Beli Bryag residents and representatives of Radnevo Municipality shall be organized on a regular basis for providing detailed clarifications regarding the graveyard relocation procedure.
On the 11th of May 2018, during the Fourth joint meeting from the mediation process, the parties unanimously approved the decision to establish a Joint working group on Beli Bryag graveyard relocation. Representatives from “Mini Maritsa-iztok” EAD, from Radnevo Municipality – namely from the Ritual/Ceremonial Services Unit – and representatives from the village of Beli Bryag (heirs of the deceased and village residents) should be included in the Working group.
As a result Order No. РД-09-195/18.05.2018 of the Executive Director of "Mini Maritsa-iztok" EAD had designated three employees of the Company to take part in the activities of the above-mentioned Working Group which first meeting took place in September 2018.
In compliance with Performance requirement No.8 (PR8): “Cultural Heritage” from the Environmental and Social Policy (ESP) of EBRD the Company (experts from the Investments department) shall develop “Beli Bryag Graveyard Relocation Plan” which describes in detail the procedure, observed by Radnevo Municipality in the process of moving the mortal remains from cemeteries/graveyards that are going to be closed down. The plan identifies all the relevant stakeholders as well as their engagement in the process. The legal framework is defined taking into account all the hygienic and administrative requirements and also the respective religious canons of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church. Currentlythe document is under development and it shall be reviewed, discussed, considered, filled and corrected, if necessary, by the above-described Joint working group.
